SOPs for Solar wheeling

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (CERC) has proposed  zero transmission access charge for use of the inter-State transmission system to incentivise wheeling of power from large-sized solar projects.  The reason being that solar power tariff is higher than electricity from other sources.

Currently, the open access charges levied in addition to high rate of solar power makes electricity from this source even more expensive. Open access envisages the possibility of any power generator getting to sell electricity to a consumer of his choice by getting access to the grid on payment of requisite transmission charges and a surcharge.
