UK reviews FITs; India to follow in 2nd solar phase?

UK has launched a review of nation’s feed-in-tariff (FIT) program; motivated by concerns that large-scale solar PV plants could use up funding in the program intended for smaller-scale generation.

Officials say that this review will provide long term certainty while making sure homes, communities and small firms are encouraged to produce their own electricity.

In comparison India does not provide much support to residents and communities to produce their own electricity and sell to grid; whereas Germany has seen a huge growth in smaller solar installments.  Maybe we can expect a change in policy in the second phase.  Will that convert into decrease in FIT as we are expecting in UK and have already experienced in Spain?

Opinion is varied and some say that as soon as the Government changes, we can expect a change in solar policy in India also.

Till then, Happy FITs.
